Dinner with Chief of the Defence Staff & Sandy Gall

On Monday 1 October 2012, a dinner organised by John Casson was held at Cliveden House hotel with Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir David Richards and veteran journalist and former presenter of News at Ten, Sandy Gall.

Sir David and Sandy each gave a talk reflecting on the current times, including defence cuts, international challenges and our withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The dinner commenced with a champagne reception, which was followed by a four-course dinner, a raffle and an auction.

The evening was in aid of Sandy Gall’s Afghanistan Appeal and the Afghan Appeal Fund, and raised a total of just under £36,000.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting evening, made more so as it was Sandy’s 85th birthday!
